Champion of the Comforter = Me

Are you married? For how long?
Are you still lovey-dovey together? Let's just say, I'm well past that and into the deep-hard-core-survival stage.
We used to bicker and fight all throughout the night over 4 yards of freaking cotton. Someone always had too much or was too hot, too cold. You know the game. Talk about frustrating and annoying to both parties. Not only were we elbowing the crap out of each other to stop the snoring and heavy sighs (or even just breathing really), now we added who would be the nightly champion of the comforter into the mix. USUALLY I won. Let's just say, our last house was primarily heated by a wood stove and we were living on prayer coals at 4AM in the dead of winter - I fought hard for that needed warmth. Most the time, my husband is very thoughtful, but circa 2010 - we were in the midst of a world war.
THEN, the switch happened.
I'm going on just about ten years married and one of the best decisions that my husband and I ever decided on was to forgo the shared comforter and sleep with our own blankets. Don't get your panties in a bunch, we still love each other lots, but we also love to sleep without 1AM fights. We have enough disturbances between a fresh puppy and overly dehydrated kids these days.

He had his blanket - I had mine. We crossed off one of the most annoying things about our marriage and now we're living mostly happily ever after. Now we just debate the more important things of life such-as who stranded the other with no toilet paper or which one is taking it for the team and washing the kids for the week.
So, tell me. What's your take on the champion of the comforter? Do you share and continue to play tug-of-war all night? Or do you live happily ever after and live selfishly through the night?
XO
Hells
